The much anticipated Shutdowns Turnarounds Superconference took place December 8 and 9 in Calgary. This is the largest turnaround conference in North America, and as always, brings together a vibrant community of turnaround specialists from a diversity of industries across Canada and the US, to share insights and practical experiences.

The conference opened with…

An in-depth analysis from BuildForce Canada on the Labour Forecast for Changing Economic Conditions, and provided new insight for the sector to prepare for the future.

Several operator-led sessions followed, including presentations from Agrium on how to successfully incorporate a Work Breakdown Structure into Planning, case studies from NOVA Chemicals on Integrated Scheduling, Canfor Pulp on Preventative Maintenance, and Shell Albian Sands on Lessons Learned from their 2015 Turnaround. Everyone appreciated hearing about what worked – and what didn't.

Day 2 featured…

An impactful session on Improving Safety from Jacobs, and new topics on Operations Handover and Work Startup from NOVA Chemicals, an in-depth look at Effective Materials Management from Shell, and Successful Process Improvements from Lucite International – Americas Region. The day concluded with a lively interactive session that engaged the expert panel and the audience.
